Under the GPSR, products sold in the EU must include clear and accessible product safety information to ensure compliance and protect consumers.
What Information Should Be Included for GPSR Compliance
Introduction
Consumers must have access to GPSR information and safety warnings both before and after purchase. Below is a detailed breakdown of the key information required to ensure compliance.
Before the Purchase: Online Display Requirements
1. Manufacturer Contact Information
-
Name, address, and contact details of the manufacturer.
-
Important: This must serve as the primary contact for consumers. The EU Authorised Representative will only redirect consumer requests to the manufacturer.
2. EU Authorised Representative Information (for manufacturers outside the EU)
-
Name, address, and contact details of the EU Authorised Representative.
Example: Easy Access System Europe - Mustamäe tee 50, 10621 Tallinn, Estonia, gpsr.requests@easproject.com
3. Safety Warnings (if applicable)
-
Include clear instructions to prevent risks associated with the product.
Example: “Keep away from small children—choking hazard.”
4. Language Requirements
-
Safety warning information must be provided in the local language(s) of the sales market.
How to Display Online Information
-
Manufacturer and Authorised Representative details can be added directly to product page. You can also add the information to a Terms and Conditions page under the header EU Safety Information - if you do so, include a direct link to this section on every product page.
-
Safety warnings, if applicable, must be visible directly on the product page itself.
After the Purchase: GPSR Labelling Requirements
The GPSR allows flexibility in how product information is displayed physically. Not all information needs to be attached directly to the product, but it must be included with the product after purchase. The GPSR label, sticker, guide or similar must include the Manufacturer details, Authorised Representative details and Safety Warnings. Safety warnings must be provided physically, not as a QR code.
Key Placement Guidelines by Product Type

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Missing Manufacturer or Representative details.
- Not translating labels into the required languages.
- Poor label durability that leads to information fading over time.
- Omitting product-specific warnings or instructions.
Other Labelling Regulations and Standards
It’s important to note that GPSR compliance is only one part of your product’s labelling requirements. There are additional labelling regulations and standards that have been in place for years to address other essential information, such as:
-
Sizing Information:
- Required for products like clothing and footwear to inform consumers of the correct fit.
-
Care Instructions:
- Essential for textiles to provide guidance on washing, drying, and ironing.
-
Material Composition:
- Mandatory for textiles and certain other products to disclose the materials used.
These regulations have been in place for years. Ensure that your product labels provide a clear distinction between safety-related information (required by GPSR) and other mandatory information for consumer awareness.
