Adding GPSR Compliance Information to Etsy Listings

To ensure your products meet the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requirements and avoid potential issues with EU sales, follow these step-by-step instructions to add the necessary compliance details to your Etsy listings.

Step 1: Prepare Required GPSR Documentation

Before updating your listings, make sure you have the following information and documents ready:

  1. Manufacturer Details:
    • Name, address, and contact information of the manufacturer.
  2. EU Authorised Representative Details:
    • Name, address, and contact information of your GPSR representative (e.g., EAS - European Compliance Services).
  3. Declaration of Conformity (DoC):
    • A signed document verifying the product complies with EU safety requirements, translated into the appropriate language(s) for the sales market.
  4. Safety Warnings and Labelling Information:
    • Relevant warnings, care instructions, or sizing details in the language of the EU country where the product is being sold.
  5. Technical File:
    • Retain this for EU Market Surveillance Authorities; it does not need to be uploaded to Etsy.

Step 2: Log Into Your Etsy Seller Account

  1. Go to Etsy and log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to Shop Manager from the dashboard.

Step 3: Edit Product Listings

  1. Click on Listings in the Shop Manager menu.
  2. Select the listing(s) you want to update and click Edit.

Step 4: Add GPSR Information to Your Listings

  1. Update Product Descriptions:

    • Add the manufacturer’s name, address, and contact details.
    • Include the EU Authorised Representative’s name, address, and contact details.
    • Add safety warnings, care instructions, and other required labelling information in the appropriate sales market language.
  2. Attach Relevant Documentation:

    • Etsy allows you to include downloadable files for customers (e.g., PDFs for care instructions or summaries of compliance). While not mandatory, this could enhance transparency and customer trust.
  3. Use Tags for Visibility:

    • Add tags like "GPSR Compliant" or "EU Safety Standard" to highlight that your product meets EU safety regulations.

Step 5: Save and Update Listings

  1. Once all necessary information is added, click Save and Publish to update the listing.
  2. For bulk updates, use Etsy’s bulk edit tool to modify multiple listings efficiently.

Step 6: Monitor Listings

  1. Regularly review your listings to ensure all compliance details remain accurate and up to date.
  2. Check for any new notifications or updates from Etsy regarding compliance requirements.

Important Notes:

  • Languages: Ensure all required documentation and information are translated into the language(s) of the EU country where the product will be sold.
  • Technical File: Keep this file accessible for EU authorities if requested, but it does not need to be visible to customers on Etsy.
  • Deadline: All updates should be completed by December 13, 2024, to comply with GPSR and maintain your ability to sell to EU markets.
