From 1 November 2026, every item you sell to EU consumers from outside the EU must be declared to customs with its product identifiers (PIDs). Customs will refuse declarations without them, so parcels can be held or rejected.
For most stores, this means filling in two fields on every product variant: SKU and barcode.
What you need for each product
| Field in your store | What to enter | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| SKU | The manufacturer's article or model number. If you make the product yourself, your own product code. | Yes |
| Barcode (EAN, UPC, GTIN or ISBN) | The product's barcode number | Only if one exists, otherwise leave blank |
| Country of origin and HS code | Where the product was made, and its customs code | Yes |
Your platform's own product ID is also sent automatically. You don't need to do anything for it.
Each code must belong to one exact variant (size, colour, packaging), and must never be a batch or serial number.
